Preparing for a FEAST!!
WE will be having a very special Feast tomorrow night, Pasach or Passover. We will be remembering our Lord’s death and resurrection. This tradition goes back to the exodus and yet has changed throughout the millennia to encompass new meanings and reveal hidden messages.
It’s a beautiful example of our connection to food.
We commemorate our most meaningful life events with food. Weddings, births, and memorials all have culinary components.
Our Feast will not be like anyone else’s. We have our own unique family traditions. We freely adapt this meal to fit our expression our faith.
There are special dishes that we prepare; roasted lamb, horseradish sauce, a special fruit chutney made with figs and dates.
Just like other holidays, we have tableware and decorations that come out only on this special occasion.
Now I have the pleasure to see my grandson learn our traditions. He is excited to play his part in tomorrow’s celebration.
Food is a precious gift given to us by our Wonderful Creator. It has a magical way of communicating ideas. The lamb, the unleavened bread, the wine/grape juice all portray HIS supreme sacrifice.
There are usually tears shed at this meal as we reflect on our gift of salvation.
Blessings to all of you that are Feasting this weekend to commemorate this precious time.
Keep Food Real!

The bread never was baked yesterday. The soup was made. Delicious! But since there was a loaf left from last week’s baking I didn’t bother.
